The NFL announced Oct. 31 that Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso will not be suspended for his hit on Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco Oct. 26, which left Flacco with a concussion. In addition, Dolphins defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh will not be suspended for grabbing the throat of Ravens backup quarterback Ryan Mallett during an altercation late in the Ravens' 40-0 win.
Both Alonso and Suh could still face fines for those plays.
Flacco remains in the concussion protocol after the hit from Alonso, which came as Flacco slid after scrambling for 9 yards. Alonso lowered his shoulder and drilled Flacco in the head as he slid, drawing a penalty for unnecessary roughness. The shot, which Ravens head coach John Harbaugh described as "a vicious type of a hit," knocked Flacco's helmet off, sliced his left ear and knocked a visibly woozy Flacco out of the game late in the second quarter.
