Maryland broke a three-game losing streak with a 42-39 victory over Indiana Oct. 28. Here are four observations on the game:
1. The Terps’ beleaguered defense made two key stands late.
Maryland ranks at or near the bottom of nearly every key defensive category in the Big Ten, and the Terps’ defense looked the part early in their game against Indiana, with the Hoosiers marching up and down the field with relative ease. The Hoosiers led, 14-0, less than six minutes into the first quarter, though that was aided by an interception by Maryland quarterback Max Bortenschlager.
