Towson Volleyball Looking To Build On Momentum At Tiger Invitational

Fast starts are not unusual for the Towson University women's volleyball program. The Tigers won their first six matches during the 2016 season, one year after compiling a 13-match winning streak following a season-opening loss to Tennessee. They also began the 2014 campaign with nine straight victories.

With a number of new faces on the 2017 roster, another quick start wasn't a certainty. But head coach Don Metil's squad, which carries just two seniors, has swept two early-season tournaments on the way to another 6-0 start and will try to extend its run at the Towson Tiger Invitational Sept. 7-10 .

"We're underdeveloped compared to those two teams," said Metil, referring to the 2015 and 2016 Tigers squads. "On a roster of 15, we have six new players. We're young and have to rely on our veterans to keep us in some matches. But getting some early wins can really build our confidence going into the [Colonial Athletic Association] matches."
