Fantasy Baseball Waiver-Wire Watch: Aug. 18, 2017

The trade deadline has passed in most leagues so in order improve your roster, the waiver wire is where you need to go. The final six weeks are critical, so any advantage you can get is huge.

Waiver-Wire Targets:

St. Louis Cardinals Reliever Tyler Lyons – Closer Trevor Rosenthal has landed on the disabled list due to an arm injury, which means the Cardinals need a new pitcher for the ninth inning. As of now, it appears one-time closer Seung Hwan Oh will take over. I can’t recommend him as he is already heavily owned since he was the Cardinals’ closer at one point before losing the job to Rosenthal. However, he continues to struggle and may not hold onto that role. This brings me to Lyons, who could get some opportunities. This would be buying low, as he is not the closer, but it could pay off if Oh doesn’t start pitching better.
