After Hunter Harvey was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the 22nd overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, his career began as well as the Orioles could've hoped.
Harvey started out with the Rookie League Gulf Coast League Orioles and short-season Class A Aberdeen IronBirds in 2013, helping the latter during their run to the New York-Penn League playoffs. He then pitched for the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds in 2014, recording a 3.18 ERA in 87.2 innings while striking out 106 hitters with an electric fastball and knee-buckling curveball. He earned a spot in the 2014 Futures Game for his efforts.
But not long after his appearance in the Futures Game, a cascade of injuries followed, and Harvey underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2016. Harvey recently began working his way back into competitive games with the GCL Orioles with a one-inning outing July 19 and a two-inning stint July 26. He joined Glenn Clark Radio before his appearance July 26 to discuss his rehab.
