Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Chris Hewitt said his secondary will be more physical this year.
With free-agent additions of Brandon Carr and Tony Jefferson, the Ravens added veteran talent. But first-round draft pick Marlon Humphrey injects speed and youth into an experienced ball-hawking defense.
"He's doing a great job. He's growing as a player, is working on his craft, getting his technique down," Hewitt said after practice July 28. "He's an extremely competitive player. We'll see what happens when the pads come on, see how he reacts to NFL-type competition. But I think he's more prepared playing at a school like Alabama. He's faced that kind of competition before, and I think he's going to be a guy we're going to be counting on."
