The year of the injuries in fantasy baseball continues with two aces being the latest victims. Los Angeles Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw will land on the disabled list with a back injury and could be sidelined for a couple weeks. The injury is the not the same one that forced Kershaw to miss time last season, but it's still disappointing since we are heading toward the stretch run of the season.
The other injury was to Washington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg. The 29-year-old left after two innings July 23 due to forearm stiffness in his right arm. He said he left for precautionary reasons and doesn't believe the injury to be serious, but fantasy owners need to prepare for Strasburg to miss at least a start.
We need to continue with our process of hitting the waiver wire, offering trades and hoping the depth we have can sustain these types of injuries. The timing isn't ideal, so we may have to make more aggressive decisions than we would if this had happened in May.
