Fantasy Baseball Waiver-Wire Targets: July 21, 2017

It was another busy week in fantasy baseball, with an injury to a top player and trades involving impact players as well.

Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa tore a ligament in his left thumb and will be sidelined for the next six-to-eight weeks. The year of the injuries continues, as this is just brutal for fantasy owners as we head toward the final two months of the season. Correa is batting .320 with 20 home runs, 67 RBIs and 64 runs scored. As we have done all season, we will just grind and hope we have enough depth to overcome.

Outfielder J.D. Martinez was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Arizona Diamondbacks July 18, and in his debut he was hit on the hand and is currently day to day. Martinez should be fine and his move to the Diamondbacks will help fantasy owners down the stretch. The Diamondbacks' lineup is strong and their offense becomes more potent when they play at home. Obviously, this is a significant blow for those in league-only formats, depending on how their rules are structured.
