Dan Duquette Sitting Pretty If Orioles Closer Zach Britton Keeps Pitching Well

Like it or not, the Baltimore Orioles are about to embark on a process. There's no sense attaching that "R" word (rebuilding) to it, because as former Ravens head coach Brian Billick used to say, "It is what it is."

That process can come about based on two or three games going the wrong way or the right way. In the Orioles' case, the three-game shellacking by the Chicago Cubs at Camden Yards by a 27-11 combined score July 14-16 was a dose of reality. The total run count doesn't show just how ugly the series was.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal recently reported Orioles owner Peter Angelos has given the go-ahead to executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette to explore a sell-off of relievers Zach Britton, Brad Brach, Darren O'Day and outfielder Seth Smith
