Diane Richardson has seen the game of basketball from a number of different perspectives. A star player at Frostburg State, she was a successful head coach at the high school level and served as an assistant for several strong collegiate programs. Richardson is also the mother of a former college basketball standout who is now playing in the WNBA.
Richardson's extensive experience will help as she embarks on her next venture. After spending seven years as a collegiate assistant, Richardson was named Towson University's head women's basketball coach June 30.
A former assistant coach at American, Maryland, George Washington and West Virginia, Richardson takes over for Niki Reid Geckeler, who resigned June 22 to become an assistant coach at her alma mater, Georgetown University.
