Jalen Smith Was Sold On Maryland After Brief Talk With Terps Coach Mark Turgeon

When Mount St. Joseph rising senior Jalen Smith took an official visit to Maryland the weekend of June 24, he had eight other Division I offers to consider.

However, a brief conversation with Terps head coach Mark Turgeon reassured Smith his home-state school was the right choice.

"I was going to commit that first day, but then before I could, [Turgeon said,] 'I think you should go home and think about it and make sure that it's truly what you wanted to do,'" Smith told Glenn Clark Radio June 28. "And that really clicked for me, so I was like, "Yeah, Maryland is where I want to go."
