After not being selected in the NBA Draft June 22, former Maryland star guard Melo Trimble reportedly signed with the Philadelphia 76ers early in the morning June 23.
Trimble is set to play in the NBA Summer League for the Sixers, who have entries in the Utah Summer League July 3-6 and the Las Vegas Summer League July 7-17. The summer league will provide an opportunity for Trimble to impress enough to earn an invitation to an NBA team's training camp this coming fall.
Trimble led a resurgence of the Terps' program when he came to College Park, Md., in 2014. Maryland went 79-25 with three NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 run during Trimble's three seasons. The Terps had missed the tournament in the four seasons before Trimble's arrival. A banner in his honor may well hang in the Xfinity Center rafters some day.
