One of the bigger disappointments in fantasy baseball this season has been Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber, and his struggles have led to a demotion to the minors. The slugger made an immediate impact as a 22-year-old rookie in 2015 as he hit 16 home runs in 69 games. However, Schwarber tore his ACL in 2016 and was only able to play in two games. He was able to return for the World Series, and his .412 average was enough to convince fantasy owners he could have a monster 2017 season.
Unfortunately, it's been a brutal season for the 24-year-old, as Schwarber is batting .171 with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs. The Cubs said the demotion may only be temporary, but fantasy owners will have a tough decision of whether to keep Schwarber. If you have the roster spot, he's worth holding on to in hopes that he returns soon and begins to hit like many expected. Owners just have to accept this is a lost season for Schwarber and one of the bigger busts this year.
