Ubaldo Jimenez Allows Nine Runs As Orioles Tie Record They'd Like To Forget

The 1988 Baltimore Orioles are remembered for ruining their season by starting 0-21. Now, it appears the 2017 version will be remembered for allowing five or more runs in 20 consecutive games.

The Orioles equaled the 1924 Philadelphia Phillies’ record during the second inning of their 15-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays before 18,929 at Tropicana Field June 23.

They’ll try to avoid further embarrassment June 24.

The last time Ubaldo Jimenez pitched at Tropicana Field, he threw the Orioles’ first complete game in more than two years. On Sept. 5, 2016, the right-hander allowed three runs on two hits in the first inning, but he shut Tampa Bay down the rest of the way.
