Former Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta was not ready to announce his retirement as he met with the media June 15, but there was an air of finality about his NFL career as he leaned on a pair of crutches and spoke of another lengthy rehabilitation after fracturing and dislocating his hip during an OTA workout June 2 -- the third hip injury of his career.
"I've dislocated my hip three times. Take it for what it is. I mean, I'm not delusional," Pitta said when asked if he might play again. "I know and understand kind of what that means, but at the same time I'm just taking it one day at a time and trying to get back healthy, and that's all that really matters."
One of the most popular and well-respected players in the organization, Pitta was released last week with an injury waiver, ending a seven-year career that began when the Ravens selected him in the fourth round of the draft out of BYU in 2010.
