After the Baltimore Orioles bullpen had to account for 6.2 innings June 10, there was no question that reinforcements were needed, and the Orioles recalled right-hander Logan Verrett from Triple-A Norfolk and selected the contract of right-hander Jimmy Yacabonis from the Tides.
The Orioles designated veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson for assignment, and for the fifth time this season optioned right-hander Stefan Crichton to Norfolk.
"We didn't want to do it, obviously, but kind of got through last night. I was really trying to stay away from a long outing with [right-hander Mike Wright] so we didn't have to send him out," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "It's the nature of the beast. The nature of having short starts."
