For the second straight night, the Orioles were trailing the Pittsburgh Pirates in the ninth inning, tied the score and won a game in extra-innings. This time, though, it was thanks to the heroics by Trey Mancini.
Trailing, 6-2, to start the ninth, the Orioles came up with a stirring comeback.
Mancini, who was pinch hitting for right fielder Seth Smith, homered to right to tie the game 6-6. He threw his arms aloft as he excitedly ran around the bases.
Then, in the 11th inning, Mancini hit a three-run game-winning home run that gave the Orioles a 9-6 win against the Pirates before 19,957 at Oriole Park June 7.
