The Orioles have four of the first 98 picks in the First-Year Player Draft June 12-14, and Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette is focusing on those initial picks, when the team will choose 21st, 60th, 74th and 98th.
"We've got about 20 people in [the draft room], and they're focused very acutely on the pitching," Duquette said. "We're going to try to find some good, solid pitching depth that we can utilize and also focus on the position players. We spent a lot of time this week on pitching, good pitching. You need a lot of good pitchers in the American League East to face these lineups that have great depth and keep the team competitive year-in and year-out."
Duquette certainly isn't telegraphing specific players the team may be interested in, nor even the positions of interest.
