Late last season, Ubaldo Jimenez pitched well, and now, in his final year before free agency, Orioles manager Buck Showalter thinks it will continue.
In his first spring training start Feb. 27, Jimenez allowed a run on three hits in two innings, and Showalter is happy with the right-hander.
"I don't want to jinx him. His delivery has been about as tight as I've seen it as far as the workout, even the side days, the pitching," Showalter said.
Jimenez, who signed a four-year, $50 million contract three years ago, has had an erratic career with the Orioles, and now he's with a new pitching coach, Roger McDowell. Early in spring training, Showalter noticed a difference.
