The Baltimore Orioles were feeling very happy about their improved outfield depth this week. In the past seven days, they added veterans Craig Gentry and Michael Bourn, both known for their speed and defense, on minor league contracts.
Bourn, who signed Feb. 20, won't be on the field for four weeks, manager Buck Showalter said. He broke his right ring finger catching a football in a workout in Sarasota, Feb. 24.
That likely puts Bourn out of the mix to start the season with the Orioles. Bourn has a March 27 opt-out, but he may not be ready to play by then.
