There weren’t many familiar names in the Orioles’ starting lineup for their Grapefruit League opener Feb. 24.
One of those who Showalter is eager to get a look at is 22-year-old Anthony Santander, who was the Orioles’ designated hitter.
Santander was 1-for-3 for in the Orioles' 2-0 win against the Detroit Tigers before 6,334 at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.
He’s one of two Rule 5 draft choices, both outfielders, trying to make the Orioles. The other is Aneury Tavarez, a 24-year-old outfielder, who was hitless in his only at-bat.
