As teams prepare for the beginning of the 2017 NFL calendar year (which happens when free agency begins at 4 p.m. March 9; hopefully Mariah Carey will make it to sound check this time), salary cap cuts have started. In recent weeks, the Giants have cut wideout Victor Cruz and running back Rashad Jennings; the Dolphins parted ways with veteran defensive linemen Mario Williams and Earl Mitchell; the Jaguars let defensive tackle Jared Odrick go; and the Panthers dropped fullback Mike Tolbert.
As has been widely publicized, the Ravens have a number of potential salary cap casualties whose futures they must consider. There are nine players whose current cap figures for the 2017 season leave them at least at a reasonable level of risk. For this exercise, I will take a look at each and tell you what I'd do if I were in the shoes of general manager Ozzie Newsome. (If he were in my shoes ... I imagine he'd probably buy better shoes.)
