As spring training 2016 approached, there was apprehension about Dylan Bundy. At 23, the right-hander was out of options and had loads of promise.
The Orioles were concerned about Bundy's history of injuries. After a spectacular rise in the organization that culminated with two September appearances in 2012, barely a year after Bundy was the fourth overall pick out of Owasso High School in Oklahoma, Bundy was seemingly cursed.
Tommy John surgery in June 2013 was the principal reason for his struggles. But there were other injuries, too, and a year ago, Bundy had pitched just 63.1 innings in minor league ball in 2014 and 2015.
