If you're planning a March trip to Sarasota, Fla., for an Orioles Grapefruit League game or two, hoping to see center fielder Adam Jones or third baseman Manny Machado, you may be disappointed.
Along with right-handed reliever Mychal Givens and second baseman Jonathan Schoop, Jones and Machado could be away for several weeks to participate in the World Baseball Classic.
Machado will play for the Dominican Republic, which plays its first game in Miami March 9, while Givens and Jones, who'll play for Team USA, begin play a night later at Marlins Park.
Schoop, a native of Curacao, is representing the Netherlands. Their first game is against South Korea in Seoul March 7.
