Baltimore's entry in the Arena Football League is drawing on city and regional hallmarks in creating an identity.

The team name, the Brigade, was announced at a news conference Jan. 25 along with the logo and uniforms, as the franchise heads toward its season-opener against another new team, the Washington Valor, at the Verizon Center in Washington April 7.
