Old habits die hard. Just ask someone trying to kick cigarettes or eat less sugar for their diet.
It has been more than five weeks since the Orioles signed catcher Welington Castillo and a week since they re-signed 2016 American League home run leader Mark Trumbo.
And yet, there is still some buzz that catcher Matt Wieters may return to Baltimore. Apparently, that is news to Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette, who seems to have moved on without getting the shakes.
And the truth of the matter is that Wieters' agent, Scott Boras, played a form of verbal hardball with the Orioles before the 2014 season, prior to Wieters' right-elbow surgery. Since then, neither Boras nor Wieters were willing to really inch toward accommodating the club with anything but a hardball stance about staying in an O's uniform for four-to-five more years.
