Pitchers and catchers report to Sarasota, Fla., in 20 days for the beginning of Orioles spring training, and many observers will be intrigued to see how Welington Castillo fits in.
For at least 2017, Castillo has inherited Matt Wieters' spot as the Orioles' top catcher, and he will need the nearly seven weeks of spring training to get used to two dozen or so pitchers, nearly all of whom worked with Wieters, sometimes for years.
Wieters caught right-hander Chris Tillman for nine seasons, first teaming up in 2008, when both played for the Double-A Bowie Baysox. Lefty closer Zach Britton has worked with Wieters throughout his entire major league career, beginning in 2011.
