Baseball World Mourns The Loss Of Yordano Ventura

With the passing of Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura in automobile accident in the Dominican Republic Jan. 22, Major League Baseball is mourning the death of an active player for the third time in less than three years.

Last September, Jose Fernandez, the wonderful pitcher for the Miami Marlins, died in a boating accident. In October 2014, Oscar Taveras, a promising St. Louis Cardinals outfielder and close friend of Ventura, also died in an automobile crash. And in addition to those active players, former major league infielder, Andy Marte, also died in an auto accident in the Dominican Republic Jan. 22.

The condolences on behalf of the 25-year-old Ventura throughout baseball echoed similar expressions of sympathy each time there was a tragic episode.
