Orioles Will Have 21st Pick In 2017 MLB Draft

1/24/17

With outfielder/designated hitter Mark Trumbo, the last of the 10 players who were given qualifying offers this offseason, re-signed, the order of June's amateur draft is set. The Orioles will draft 21st.

Baltimore forfeited first- and second-round picks in 2014 after signing outfielder Nelson Cruz and pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. Last year, the Orioles lost their first-rounder for signing right-handed starter Yovani Gallardo but gained a compensatory choice when they lost left-handed starter Wei-Yin Chen to free agency. They chose right-handed pitcher Cody Sedlock 27th overall.

FanFest Update: All autograph sessions for FanFest at the Baltimore Convention Center Jan. 28 are sold out. There is no word whether Trumbo will attend.
