Mark Trumbo is coming back to the Orioles on a three-year deal worth $37.5 million. The deal, pending a physical, was reported by Yahoo! Sports. Apparently, there is some deferred money involved. The deal was confirmed by multiple industry sources.
Trumbo' s negotiations closely follow those of first baseman Chris Davis' from last season. The Orioles and both sluggers engaged in negotiations during the winter meetings, then pulled their offers only to re-engage in mid-January.
Trumbo came to the Orioles in December 2015 from Seattle in exchange for catcher Steve Clevenger and led the majors in home runs with 47. The Orioles offered the outfielder a $17.2 million qualifying offer, but he declined.
