Trio Of Terps Freshmen Continue To 'Answer The Bell'

With 8:37 remaining in the second half between Maryland and Indiana Jan. 10, Terps junior forward Jared Nickens checked out of the game, giving way to freshman guard Kevin Huerter. Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon didn't make another substitution for the rest of the evening, riding his starting lineup of guard Anthony Cowan, guard Melo Trimble, Huerter, forward Justin Jackson and forward Damonte Dodd.

That lineup includes three freshmen in Cowan, Huerter and Jackson, all of whom have passed one test after another this year. In playing all of crunch time against the Hoosiers, all while making some of the game's decisive plays late and holding up defensively against Indiana's variety of offensive weapons, the trio passed another test Jan. 10.

"When have they not answered the bell?" Turgeon asked rhetorically after his team's 75-72 win against the visiting Hoosiers.
