Many of the names at the Orioles' three-day minicamp aren't recognizable. Mike Wright is one of the exceptions.
Right-handed reliever Mychal Givens isn't throwing in Sarasota, Fla., but Wright, a 27-year-old right-hander, threw Jan. 10. He's looked strong, and manager Buck Showalter is hoping for better things from him this season.
Wright is using the time to get to know his new pitching coach, Roger McDowell.
"I'm part of the camp roster," Wright said. "Meet the new pitching coach, start off on a good relationship and see where he wants us to go.
