The much-anticipated casino revenue figures that reflect the impact of Maryland's newest casino, MGM National Harbor, on the local gaming market were released Jan. 5 and showed a record-breaking month for the state.
Maryland's six casinos generated $133.48 million in revenue for December 2016, eclipsing the previous record of $104.35 in May 2016, when there were five casinos.
MGM National Harbor, a casino-hotel in Prince George's County overlooking Washington, had $41.93 million in revenues for 23 days of operation; it opened its doors Dec. 8.
For the time being, Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, Md., held its traditional lead as the state's revenue leader with $48.03 million.
