The search for a right fielder goes on. The identity of next season's leadoff hitter is uncertain, and the designated hitter may be a rookie who played just five September games.
All of these questions are important ones for the Orioles, but even if they have a quality right fielder, an ideal leadoff hitter and Trey Mancini has an outstanding season as a DH, those issues may all be irrelevant.
What the Orioles really need are solid seasons from their starters. A year ago, they were counting on Chris Tillman and Kevin Gausman to deliver, and they were good enough to barely push the team into postseason despite a lineup that counted far too much on the long ball.
