A year ago, first baseman Chris Davis was heavily involved in thinking about his next team. For months, Davis and the Baltimore Orioles knew they each wanted a long-term commitment, but it wasn't until January that they finally agreed on a seven-year, $161 million contract.
Now, with the first baseman knowing he'll be an Oriole through 2022, he's decided to become more involved with the community. On Dec. 13, Davis and his wife, Jill, announced a partnership with the University of Maryland Children's Hospital.
The Davises will serve as ambassadors for the hospital, hoping to raise awareness for childhood illnesses.
Davis and three teammates, catcher Caleb Joseph and right-handed pitchers Darren O'Day and Tyler Wilson, served lunch and played games with 80 children who had been patients at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital.
