Maryland star junior guard Melo Trimble came into the Terps' matchup against Jacksonville State Dec. 12 having just had a quartet of quiet games by his standards. He scored 13 points on 4-of-13 shooting during a loss to Pitt Nov. 29 and another 13 points on 4-of-12 shooting during a win against Oklahoma State Dec. 3.

Trimble scored 10 and five points during wins against Howard Dec. 7 and St. Peter's Dec. 10. He played 27 and 26 minutes during those victories -- lower than his normal totals -- and he was content to allow his teammates to finish plays, as he recorded four assists in both games.

But Trimble led the Terps in scoring (23 points) during a 92-66 victory against Jacksonville State Dec. 12. Trimble was 6-of-7 from the floor and 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, playing with the quiet confidence typical of his play since he burst onto the scene in 2014. More pointedly, Trimble was 4-of-5 from 3-point range; he was shooting 31 percent from beyond the arc coming into the game.
