After 11 games, Maryland still needs to win one more game to clinch bowl eligibility.
The Terps dropped a 28-7 decision at Nebraska Nov. 19, which represents Maryland’s fourth straight loss and sixth loss in seven games. The Terps, at 5-6, will have a chance to clinch a bowl game against Rutgers at Maryland Stadium Nov. 26.
With starting quarterback Perry Hills’ left shoulder ailing – Hills was knocked out of Maryland’s 62-3 loss to Ohio State after just two series – Terps head coach DJ Durkin opted to start true freshman Max Bortenschlager, whose only other action came during mop-up duty during Maryland's season-opening 52-13 win over Howard. Durkin had looked to freshman Tyrrell Pigrome and senior Caleb Rowe when Hills was unavailable in the past.
