With less than five minutes left in the first half and Michigan ahead 28-0 against Maryland, the Wolverines faced a second down and 34 at their own 43-yard line. Michigan ran a screen pass that was nearly dropped but hauled in by running back Chris Evans, who ran 56 yards to the Terps' one-yard line and faced no resistance until sophomore cornerback JC Jackson shoved him out of bounds.
It was that kind of day for Maryland, which was overmatched from the start of the game against Michigan, the third-ranked team in the College Football Playoff standings released Nov. 1. The Terps lost, 59-3, to the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Mich. Nov. 5.
Maryland is now 5-4 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play and will host Ohio State Nov. 12. However, whether the Terps' starting quarterback will be healthy enough to lead them is unknown. Senior Perry Hills was hurt on a hit by Michigan defensive end Chase Winovich during the second quarter. Hills fell hard on his left shoulder. Additionally, sophomore running back Ty Johnson was hurt during the second half and didn’t return.
