Meg Van de Loo was off to a great start.
Van de Loo, whose freshman year included eight goals and three assists for a Johns Hopkins women's soccer team that reached the NCAA Elite Eight, had helped the Blue Jays to a 7-2-0 start during the first half of her sophomore campaign. A midfielder, Van de Loo was a consistent contributor to a 2014 squad that would eventually advance to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in program history.
But her sophomore season ended suddenly, when Van de Loo suffered a torn ACL during a midseason practice session.
"It was my first major injury," Van de Loo said. "I love the game, so I was determined to get back as quickly as I could. During the spring [of 2015], I ran every day and spent a lot of time in the weight room."
