Some good news came out of the Xfinity Center at the University of Maryland Oct. 27. Head men's basketball coach Mark Turgeon, with three years remaining on his original contract, received a four-year contract extension that will pay him roughly $2.5 million per season and lock him up through the 2022-23 season.

At Big Ten media day in Washington, D.C. Oct. 13, Turgeon seemed as relaxed and comfortable as ever. And why shouldn't he be?

All Turgeon has done in College Park, Md., is set the five-year win mark with 114. In Big Ten Conference play, Turgeon has coached the Terps to back-to-back third-place finishes and compiled a 26-10 (.722) record in Big Ten play. Turgeon's Teprs have proved especially tough to beat at home, compiling a 77-13 record during Turgeon's five seasons at Xfinity Center.
