Maryland true freshman quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome was placed in a difficult situation in State College Oct. 8. Senior starter Perry Hills re-injured his shoulder late in the first half, with the Terps deep in Penn State territory, and Pigrome finished off the drive with a 7-yard run to pull Maryland to a 17-14 deficit.
However, it didn't remain a three-point deficit for long, as Penn State running back Saquon Barkley quickly ripped through the Maryland defense for a touchdown just before halftime, which put the Nittany Lions up 10.
Pigrome was tasked with leading Maryland back from a 10-point deficit at Beaver Stadium, and although the offense didn't muster much, Terps offensive coordinator Walt Bell was pleased with what he saw from Pigrome.
