This past year has treated former Maryland Terrapins great Vernon Davis well. The tight end won his first career Super Bowl in February as part of the Denver Broncos, who acquired Davis mid-season. Then he signed with his hometown Washington Redskins March 31. Now his Terps are seemingly back on the right track.

Davis discussed it all on Glenn Clark Radio Oct. 5. The 32-year-old Washington, D.C., native was the sixth overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers during the 2006 NFL Draft after a skillset that oozed potential had shown itself during a productive career in College Park, Md. Davis was with the 49ers for more than nine seasons and played in at least 14 games in eight of those years.

His tenure in San Francisco ended when Davis was traded to Denver last November, which needed tight end depth behind veteran (and brief Baltimore Ravens) tight end Owen Daniels. Davis caught 20 passes for 201 yards through six games for the Broncos during the regular season and went on to earn a Super Bowl ring.
