A rain-swept afternoon didn’t deter the Navy Brigade from storming the field after the Midshipmen upset sixth-ranked Houston on Oct. 8 in Annapolis.
Quarterback Will Worth ran for 115 yards on 32 carries with a touchdown and also threw for a pair of scores in the stunning 46-40 victory. Navy picked up its biggest win over a ranked opponents since knocking off No. 2 South Carolina 38-21 in 1984.
The Midshipmen take over over sole possession of first place in the American Athletic Conference West division and put themselves in position for a New Year’s Day bowl game. Navy also bounced back from a disappointing 28-14 loss to rival Air Force the previous week.
