In perhaps their biggest game of the season, the Orioles grabbed a victory by hitting zero home runs and getting a dominant performance from Ubaldo Jimenez.
Just like they drew it up a few months ago.
The O's completed a huge series win in Toronto with a 4-0 shutout during the Sept. 29 rubber game, pulling them into a tie with the Blue Jays for the top American League Wild Card spot. The story of the game was the rejuvenated Jimenez, who worked 6.2 scoreless innings and held the Jays hitless after a single to start the game. Although the Blue Jays made Jimenez labor -- working several full counts and ratcheting his pitch count to a season-high 116 -- he weathered the battle, retiring 14 of the last 15 batters he faced.
"It felt good," Jimenez told MASN. "The sinker was pretty good, splitter was good, changeup was good, curveball was good, slider was good. Everything was breaking good."
