For most football fans and media, "special teams" is a throwaway phrase.
It's a phase of practice not observed as closely, nor are its standouts promoted as heavily. But there are games when they are at least as vital to a team's chances for victory as any other, if not more so.
The Ravens, hailed as the league's best in that area, struggled mightily on special teams until Brent Urban's field-goal block and Justin Tucker's subsequent 54-yard field goal -- his 16th straight successful kick and eighth road game-winner. That enabled the team to eke out a 19-17 win over the host Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3).
