Barring one of the most miraculous comebacks of all time, the Orioles can wave goodbye to the American League East pennant in 2016.
The Red Sox extended their AL East edge to five games over the Birds after winning their second straight in Baltimore Sept. 20, giving Boston a nearly insurmountable division lead with 11 games remaining in the regular season.
The Orioles knew coming into the four-game set anything less than a series win would likely spell their doom in the division race, but the Red Sox proved their superiority by easily taking the first two games of the set. They exacted their revenge on the two O's hurlers who beat them in Boston a week earlier -- righties Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman -- by tagging each of them for five runs.
