The Lord Baltimore Hotel will bring back its Couture Tree Competition this holiday seasons and is currently seeking artists and businesses to design and create the high fashion trees. Selected designs will be on display throughout the hotel from Nov. 28, 2016 through early January 2017.
“We are a hotel with a close connection to, and a love of, displaying art,” said Gene-Michael Addis, the general manager of the Lord Baltimore Hotel. “This unique and festive competition is a great way to celebrate the season, and we are excited to bring it back for another year.”
Those interested in participating in the competition must submit an original design sketch by Nov. 1. A jury will select top designs based to be entered into to the final competition. All selected participants will receive a mannequin and any students who are selected will also receive $50 to go towards the purchase of materials. The Lord Baltimore Hotel’s Couture Tree Competition is open to all individuals and area businesses.
“We had a lot of interest from the business community who wanted to design a tree as part of a festive team-building exercise,” said Addis. “As such, we’ve decided to change things up this year and award two prizes – best design by an individual and best design by a business.”
The designer of the winning tree will receive a prize of $750. The winning tree designed by a business will receive $750 to go towards the nonprofit of their choice. Final judging will take place in early December.
Designs should be emailed to gmaddis@lordbaltimorehotel.com. For questions or additional information, please contact 410-659-3096.
