The Johns Hopkins football team has averaged 43 points during its first two games. The Blue Jays' next opponent, Moravian College, has been even more explosive, totaling 105 points while beating Kings (Pa.) and McDaniel.
Something has to give when the two undefeated programs meet in an important Centennial Conference early season matchup Sept. 17 at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field. The Johns Hopkins-Moravian winner will remain tied for first place, while the losing team might have to win the remainder of its games to have a shot at the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
The Blue Jays, ranked 11th nationally in the Sept. 13 D3football.com poll, appear well-equipped for the challenge. During a season-opening matchup of 2015 NCAA playoff teams, Johns Hopkins easily dispatched Washington and Lee, 45-29. The Blue Jays extended their regular-season winning streak to 33 games with a 41-7 rout of host Susquehanna Sept. 10.
