The Orioles found the best possible time to shake off their season-long road woes.
The O's pulled off their first winning road trip of longer than two games this year, capping a 6-3 trek through Tampa Bay, Detroit and Boston with a hard-fought 1-0 victory during the Sept. 14 rubber game at Fenway Park. The Orioles won all three series of the trip, including two against their fellow postseason hopefuls, the Tigers and Red Sox.
By taking two out of three against the Sox, the Orioles pulled within one game of Boston for first place in the American League East. They also took possession of the first Wild Card spot, moving one game ahead of the Blue Jays, who lost their series to the Rays Sept. 12-14.
