In September 2014, Maryland cornerback Alvin Hill tore his PCL during a victory at Syracuse, requiring knee surgery and robbing Hill of his starting position and most of his junior year. Hill secured a medical redshirt because of the injury, giving him two more years of eligibility. He bounced back last year to play in all 12 games but didn't start.
This year, the senior Hill is starting at cornerback again, manning one of the spots on the outside. Sophomore J.C. Jackson handles the other side of the field, and fellow senior Will Likely works inside at the nickel spot.
Hill's season has gotten off to a solid start. During the Terps' 41-14 win against Florida International, Hill tipped a pass thrown by Alex McGough that was grabbed by junior linebacker Jermaine Carter Jr. and run 14 yards for a score. The play put Maryland up 10-0 early, and the Terps were off and running.
